Keep South Carolina Wild
SCWF connects people of all ages to nature and wildlife to inspire conservation. Our programs build connections between observing nature, enjoying our natural resources and taking action to protect the treasure trove that we have in South Carolina. Join us to get outdoors, experience the mental and physical health benefits of nature, learn about wildlife and what they need to thrive, and take steps to make a difference!
SCWF is proud to offer programs which provide women of all ages with the skills needed to participate in outdoor recreation – including archery, birding, fishing, hunting, kayaking, paddleboarding, and much more. We now offer two retreats each year, POWR and POWR Up, for women to learn these skills in a supportive environment. Click the button below for details on each of these retreats. We also offer one-day workshops called POWR+ throughout the year in locations around the state to build upon the topics introduced in the retreats.
These classes train volunteers in the fundamentals of natural history, nature interpretation, and conservation in order to empower them to donate their time to positively impact our natural resources. Classes are led by experts in the fields of natural history, biology, botany, forestry, and geology.
National Hunting and Fishing Day promotes the contributions of hunters and anglers to conservation. It is traditionally held the fourth Saturday in September across the country. South Carolina celebrates with a free event in Seneca to introduce kids and people of all ages to the basics of hunting, fishing and many other outdoor activities so they can learn to enjoy these activities safely and sustainably.
As trees are being cut down at increasing rates, and especially trees with hollow parts, cavity-nesting birds have a harder time finding suitable nesting habitat. You can help support these birds by putting up a nest box. SCWF has a variety of boxes you can purchase, as well as plans you can use to build your own!
