The friendly SCWF staff encourages contact with its members. The SCWF may be small, but the staff work hard together and make a great team. They are very passionate about what they do and hope that same passion will rub off on all of SCWF’s members.

Ben Gregg

Ben received his Master of Forestry and Environmental Studies from Yale University, his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina Law School, and his Bachelor of History from Presbyterian College. He has been a staff member of the SC Coastal Council, the Director of the Natural Resources Division, a lawyer in a private law practice, and a founder and partner of Ferillo, Gregg, & Associates. He has also been the Manager and Director of Governmental Communications for Carolina Public Relations/Marketing, Inc. and an Adjunct Professor of Environmental Policy at Brevard College. He is currently the Executive Director at SCWF. Some outdoor activities that he enjoys doing in his free time are fishing, bird watching, baseball, bicycling, and reading.

Sara Green

Sara majored in Marine Science at the University of South Carolina. She started working at SCWF in 1997 as the Administrative Assistant. In 1998, she worked for Pritchard’s Island on a Loggerhead Sea Turtle Conservation Project. She then returned to SCWF upon graduation in 1999 and started full-time as the Director of Education. Sara now works part-time from home, and coordinates the Backyard, Schoolyard, and Community Habitat Programs, Wildlife And Industry Together (WAIT) Program, Federation Field Trips, National Wildlife Week in SC, Habitat Stewards Workshops, Women’s Outdoor Recreation Retreat, Green Hour program, and many other programs and events. Some outdoor activities that she enjoys doing in her free time are gardening, bird-watching, hiking, camping, backpacking, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, snorkeling, beach-combing, outdoor cooking, and playing outside with her family and dogs.

Steve Moore

Steve received his Bachelor of History and his Master of Geography from the University of South Carolina. He is currently the Director of Climate and Energy at SCWF. Some outdoor activities that he enjoys doing in his free time are kayaking, rowing, sailing, hiking, bird watching, and gardening.

Clary Powell

Clary received her Bachelor of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology from Clemson University and her Master of Mass Communications from the University of South Carolina. She started working as a communications intern at SCWF in 2007. She has also had internships at Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Gardens and the Jane Goodall Institute. She is currently the Director of Membership and Development at SCWF. Some outdoor activities that she enjoys doing in her free time are sailing with her dad on Lake Murray, enjoying Columbia’s Riverwalk, and taking every other opportunity to enjoy South Carolina’s beautiful outdoors.

Sarah Lloyd

Sarah received her Bachelor Degree in Political Science and History from Presbyterian College. While in college, Sarah worked for the International Model United Nations Association as a conference planner.  During her semester abroad, Sarah interned for a member of the British Parliament.  She is currently the Coordinator of Policy and Conservation at SCWF. Some outdoor activities that she enjoys doing in her free time are running, hiking, swimming, and gardening.

Cary Chamblee

Cary Chamblee is a native of Anderson and graduated from Clemson University. He retired as Associate Director of the SC Department of Natural Resources in 2006 after 35 years of state service. He is a hunter, fisherman and gardener and prefers to be in the outdoors. He has been lobbying on behalf of the SC Wildlife Federation and other non-profit natural resource organizations for four years. He is one of South Carolina's most experienced advocates on behalf of Natural Resources Conservation.

Heather

Heather Clarkson is currently a student at the University of South Carolina, studying Political Science and Environmental Studies. The child of a dedicated environmental science teacher and an avid outdoorsman, she has spent much of her life in the outdoor worlds of Kentucky, Oregon, and North and South Carolina. She has interned for local elected officials, as well as with Carolina Wildlife Care, the leading wildlife rehab center in the state. Heather spends much of her time hiking, camping, kayaking, and working with the local Australian Shepherd rescue of the Carolinas.

Sarah Grove

Sarah is currently working on her master's in Speech-Language Pathology at USC. She also earned a Bachelors Degree in Business and a Masters of Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management from USC.  Sarah planned events part-time for SCWF during graduate school (the first time). She was the Company Manager for Spoleto Festival USA for two years, and then coordinated membership for SCWF. Although she has changed her field of interest, she loves SCWF and works part time as Membership Associate. She is also a part-time autism therapist. Getting outdoors is a must-do for Sarah. She likes to run, play tennis, hike--and do almost anything else outside. Traveling also tops Sarah's list of fun things to do. But most of all, Sarah enjoys birdwatching with Bobby.
